Man U transfer Rumours..

United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of James Rodriguez, with The Daily Star suggesting Real Madrid will lower their £50 million asking price in the summer - but not this January.

Antoine Griezmann is reportedly United's No 1 target, but Atletico Madrid are reluctant to sell and should it prove impossible to lure the Frenchman away from the Vicente Calderón, James is next on the list.

James has repeatedly discussed his future in public - much to Real's annoyance - and they have supposedly asked the Colombian forward to stay in line for the rest of the season.

He is quoted in The Star as saying: "I can't guarantee that I'll stay at Real Madrid after the winter window."

Man Utd have no intention of allowing Anthony Martial to leave Old Trafford on loan next month, reveals today's Telegraph.

Martial has struggled to hold down a starting place during a difficult second season at United and Philippe Lamboley, the France forward's agent, has claimed they have been exploring the possibility of the player joining Sevilla on loan until the end of the season.

Lamboley told ABCdeSevilla: "We are studying the Sevilla option in detail. Sevilla are a very good club, are in a good position in La Liga, play in the Champions League and have a great coach. That's all I can tell."

United, however, are adamant that Martial forms an important part of manager Jose Mourinho's plans and will give no consideration to letting him leave on loan in the transfer window next month.

Valencia have made a bid to sign Man Utd defender Marcos Rojo, according to Calciomercato. We are told the offer for the Argentina international is in the region of €16 million (about £13.5 million).

It had looked like Rojo's future at Old Trafford was over after a number of unconvincing performances since his arrival, but a recent upturn in form and fitness has seen his stock rise to the point where The Daily Mail is reporting that Manchester United have cooled their interest in Benfica's £38 million-rated defender Victor Lindelof.

The Mail suggests Jose Mourinho has been impressed by the partnership of Phil Jones and Rojo in the absence of Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly, who are both also now available again after injury, and does not now see signing a new centre-back in the January transfer window as a priority.

The Mail continues that Mourinho will only add to his squad next month if players go out, and Everton are expected to step up their pursuit of Morgan Schneiderlin andMemphis Depay next week. West Ham have lodged enquiries about the availability of Marouane Fellaini and Marcus Rashford.

United are one of the several clubs interested in Bayern Leverkusen star Julian Brandt, according to The Mail.

The German international primarily appears on the left-wing, but he can also play as an attacking midfielder or on the right and would cost around £20 million.

And finally, former United star Juan Sebastian Veron is returning to football for a fifth spell with Argentine side Estudiantes... aged 41.

Veron is the club's president and has made good on a promise that he will play in the 2017 Copa Libertadores if fans buy 65 per cent of the tickets for the match. He will donate his minimal salary earned playing for Estudiantes back to the club.
